Dr. Fernandez is a psychiatrist in private practice in Lexington, KY who has treated up to three generations of family members since 1996. His practice accepts a wide variety of insurances. He has DEA certification and training for opiate and other substance abuse rehabilitation. He has vast experience in inpatient and outpatient treatment of ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and substance abuse in all age groups.
Dr. Fernandez is currently affiliated with Ridge Behavioral Health hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, an acute inpatient psychiatric hospital where he treats and manages the mental health of children, adolescents and adults, encourages service excellence at all levels and coordinates efforts to assure a high quality of patient care. He was recruited by Good Samaritan Hospital and has been the Medical Director of both the adult, child and adolescent psychiatric inpatient units from 1998 to 2004 at Bourbon Community Hospital, Paris, Kentucky.
Dr. Fernandez completed his medical school at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India. He completed his residency at Yale University where he completed his residency training as an adult psychiatrist . He served as Chief Resident at Yale University residency. He completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX. He has been licensed to practice in Connecticut, Texas and Kentucky.
He is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist . He is also a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and has successfully completed his recertification in both Board certifications. Dr. Fernandez has extensive experience with research work, teaching and a variety of presentations over the course of his career. He belongs to the professional societies of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the Kentucky Psychiatric Association and the American College of Forensic Examiners.
